Council continues to use solicitors for SEN cases

In a document published today, North Yorkshire revealed it has renewed its relationship with Baker Small solicitors for legal advice on SEN cases and SEND tribunals. The cost of the annual contract runs to £8000 +VAT and ends in September 2013. This is the second year that North Yorkshire has paid lawyers to provide legal advice on SEN matters. The contract is available here.

Curiously the agreement began on 1 September 2012, but was only signed by the Council on 25 April this year.

For further information on the Council's spurious reasoning for legal representation at tribunals see here and for information on the costs so far accrued see here.
